This photo was taken in February 2002. As you'll see, not much changed on this crossing during the next 7 years, but there are a couple of odd differences... |
Overall view looking east. Both signals at this crossing have 12"x20" incandescent lights, gates and mechanical bells. Almost all of the equipment comes from WC Hayes. |
The eastbound signal, which also has a pair of sidelights for southbound East St. |
|
One of the lights on the back of the signal has been turned, perhaps to act as a sidelight for northbound East Street? This seems unnecessary, though, since there is already a full pair of sidelights for this part of East St. mounted to the southbound signal. It's doubtful that this light was rotated by accident, since it is on the side of the signal that is away from the street. Also, if you notice in photo #1 this light was not turned like this back in 2002. |

Overall view looking west. |
Weird placement of the gate lights. You can also see the strange spacing of these gate lights in photos #2, 5 and 13... but photo #1 shows that in 2002 these lights were spaced normally. |
Side views of the westbound signal. Both signals at this crossing have sidelights, because the street that parallels the railroad track (East Street) makes a jog to the other side of the tracks at Odneal.

WC Hayes gate motor. |
Track view looking north. The tracks become completely weed-choked as they head towards the defunct King St. #1 crossing. The only part of the track still in use is the spur that branches off to the left.
