These 2 photos were taken in Nov. 2000, just 4 months after two people died in a fatal accident at this crossing. At this time Naaman School was still a narrow 2-lane blacktop road, and the crossing signals consisted of gateless Safetran cantilevers with 12"x20" lights and a mechanical bell. |
By 2003 the road had been improved to 4 lanes of concrete, and the crossing signals had been changed to gated signals with one cantilever, LED lights, and GS electronic bells. |
|
In 2009, the crossing is basically the same. These views are facing east - the eastbound signal is the only cantilever at the crossing. It has a very long gate, with 4 LED gate lights instead of the usual 3. |
The back side of the eastbound signal. |

The cantilever was manufactured by Harmon Industries, and the lights are Safetran. |
These pictures show the limited queueing distance between the track and the traffic light. |
Wide view facing west - the entire crossing as seen from Hwy. 78. |

Facing west. The westbound mast signal has a short gate that only covers one lane of traffic. |
Track view facing northeast (towards the bridge over the George Bush Turnpike). |
Track view facing SW (towards the Crist Rd. crossing). Notice the distant/approach searchlight signal. |
