Disc #1
Old Bayshore -
One of the last complete fully functioning Griswold stop Sign signals
left in America is cought in action in this video. A short local UP
crosses in this video. |
|
Dennison (1) - This crossing originally photographed by Bill Steck is cought in action by Patrick with a westbound BNSF freight.
|
Dennison (2) -
Another westbound BNSF crosses the crossing in the eavning. Both videos
are filmed from the north side with the Safetran E bell. Note the frogs
in the background noise in these 2 videos. |
Ave. E
- We raced the train to the crossing but it was just too fast. The
video starts after the gates drop. The crossing surface is in very bad
condition and you will hear why in the video. |
Ave. K - I get a northbound Metrolink headed for the Lancaster station from the UP side at night. |
Ave. M
- A Metrolink headed north for the Lancaster station crosses here. This
is one of 2 Metrolink/UP owned crossings with all Mechanical bells on
this stretch of track. |
|
Ave. P (1) - A UP train backs in reverse onto a spur line. |
Ave. P (2) - About 15 minutes later, the train reemerges, and sets the signals off, but never crosses. |
Ave. P (3) - Another 5 minutes later, the train finally crosses for real. |
|
Ave. P (4) - A freight is headed south in this video, I get this video from the UP side.
|
Ave. P (5) - I get a freight from the inside of my car on the Metrolink side, the train is headed south. |
8th St. E (1) - A UP train goes across the crossing. This one is taken on the signal with the remaining teardrop bell. |
8th St. E (2) - Almost 30 minutes later, the train crosses again, heading back to the main line. |
8th St. E (3) - 15 minutes later, as a stroke of luck, the same train goes back and crosses the street again. The signals false start for a split moment, then almost immediately start up again. |
Sierra #2 -
I get a Metrolink heading north stopping at the Palmdale Metrolink
Statoion. This video is from the UP side with the new WCH E bell in
action. |
Palmdale - A southbound Metrolink departs the Palmdale Metrolink station and heads for L.A. |
Ave. R - The last Metrolink train heading Southbound
crosses for the day, recorded from the UP side of the crossing. |
Ave. S (1) - A
northbound Metrolink crosses here. At the begining of the video, You
can hear the Metrolink blowing its horn at the Sierra #1 and Barrel
Springs crossings.
|
|
Ave. S (2) -
I get a UP freight that had just headed off the UP line. It is headed
south for L.A. This is my first time getting a freight at this
crossing. For some reason, hte left lights on the pedestrian and median
signal don't go out all the way.
|
Barrel Springs (1) - An average Metrolink video. |
Barrel Springs (2) -
This train is all NS locos and one Conrail loco. This is not normal for
this line that gets UP/Metrolink traffic only. This video was taken
from the north side of the crossing and is my favorite video for Barrel
Springs Rd. |
Disc #2
Barrel Springs (3) - A twilight video of another Metrolink train crossing. |
Barrel Springs (4) - A
normal day video of a Metrolink headed for LA taken from the south side
of the crossing. I let the scanner play in the background in this
video. This train was going 66 M.P.H. The Trains headed for Lancaster
normlly will do from 73 - 79 M.P.H. |
Sierra #1 (1) - Another average Metrolink video. |
Sierra #1 (2) - Another Metrolink video at night. |
Aliso Cyn. Rd. (1) - A very fast moving UP train crosses. Takes about 2 minutes to fully cross. |
Aliso Cyn. Rd. (2) - Another average Metrolink video. |
Aliso Cyn. Rd. (3) - A Metrolink video at sundown. The lights are very bright on this video. |
Crown Valley Rd. - I
was a little late in getting this video of the Metrolink from Lang
Station Rd. This was taken from the south side of the crossing. The WCH
Red L.E.D.s flash for some reason when they are off you'll notice in
the video. |
1000 Trails (1) - Got
this video on my way to school. The signals activate before you can see
the train so I started the video a littke late. I got this Metrolink
going to LA from the west side of the crossing. |
1000 Trails (2) - The next day, I was ready for the Metrolink so I got the whole activation. I got the Metrolink from the west side again. |
Lang Station Rd. - A Metrolink headed for Lancaster in the night crosses here. I chase this train to a few other crossings too. |
Whittier Ave. - This
will be the first video of this crossing in action. Rhe first train
starts to cross and then I'm caught a little off guard to get a second
train crossing in the same direction on the other track. This is my
first time getting 2 trains going in the same direction. This video was
taken in the early eavning. |
San Timoteo #2 - I catch the last few cars of the first train that crossed at Whittier Ave. |
Allesandro (1) - We
rushed to Allesandro Ave. To get the begining of the first train from
Whittier but were a little late getting there. You can see the second
train from Whittier now parked waiting for this train to pass. This
video was taken from the GS E bell side. |
Allesandro (2) - A
train coming from the opposite direction that was waiting for the first
one to pass gets a green light and proceeds across the crossing. Its a
relatevely short train with only a small # of balast cars. This was
taken from the north side of the crossing. |
Live Oak Cyn. Rd. - The
train that was waiting for the first one to pass on video 1 at Whittier
crosses here. There is 3 parties here all watching trains including me. |
California Ave. - This
will be the LAST video ever taken of the 8" lights on the South Signal.
The lights on the other signal on this video have already been upgraded
to 12"x24" Harmon fadding L.E.D.s. The crossing after this video now
has all 12"x24" Harmon fadding L.E.D.s. |
| 6th St. (1) - A yard set crosses the road here. The leading loco is an old BNSF eloco with the new swoosh logo on its side. It has a great K5LA airhorn too. This is taken for my first time from the north side of the crossing. |
6th St. (2) - I barely have enough time to get across the tracks and another train
comes around the corner on its way to the Cajon Pass. All the lights at
this crossing have been upgraded to 12"x24" WCH lights but they are
still incandicants. The gate lights on both gates too have been
upgraded to 4" RECO L.E.D. lights. |
6th St. (3) - A
train was parked off to the south east of the crossing and starts up
and heads for Barstow. This video was taken from the north side of the
crossing. |
1st St. (1) -
One crossing that is still for the most part left alone by BNSF. There
is all 8" WRRS incandicant lights here but the gate lights and bells
have been upgraded. This video was a malfunction video and was taken
from the north side of the crossing. |
1st St. (2) -
A BNSF train headed for Barstow crosses in this video. I took this
video from the south side of the crossing and was having some trouble
getting a good view of the signal because there was a bus in the way. |
REVIEWS
Mike: Similar to that of Volume 3. Except for the Old Bayshore video, everything else is familiar. This DVD gets an 8 out of 10 rating from me. Future volumes will have newer crossings featured.
