2004 was a abnormally slow year for some odd reason for me. Luckilly, I had a bit of help...
Note: The track order goes in chronological order, not alphabetical like the other DVDs.
Mike's Videos
Sherwood Forest #1 - The southern crossing bell wasn't working correctly. During the video, I go out and find out for myself. |
Sherwood Forest #2 - I filmed this one from the other side of the tracks. The Northern bell worked fine, but was the last time I heard it in action. |
Park #1 - The signals now have Safetran lights instead of MI lights. Other than that there's nothing extraordinary about this video. The train takes less than 2 minutes to cross. |
Park #2 - I film this video closer to the signals than I did with the last one. Nothing extraordinary about this video either. |
Sherwood Forest #3 - General Signals Type 1 and 2 electronic bells now protect the crossing. Sounds almost mechanical in some aspects. This was the last video shot in Arizona before my move to Michigan. |
Gilman, IL - Taped right before we left for our last moving day to Midland, MI. The bell starts about 1 second early, then the lights start up. An Amtrak train barrels down the crossing, heading towards Chicago. |
Gregg's Videos
Chipman - Pere Marquette 1225 passes two 8" mast flashers on the north side of Owosso. After 1225 passes, a TSBY diesel follows through the crossing. |
Shiawassee - On another day, The 1225 pulls a grain train past two 8" cantilevers. The cantilever closest has a Teardrop bell on it. Just before the end, the train stops on the crossing for 3 minutes. The video is almost 8 minutes long. |
Main - An L.E.D. cantilver with a very fast ringing Western Cullen Hayes mechanical bell and a "NO LEFT TURN" light activates for a GT/CN train. The train doesn't sound a horn because there are horn restrictions at Durand, MI. |
Harrison - A train came by and Gregg was not ready in time. He got the very last part of the train. |
Seminary 1 - While waiting for Amtrak, A CN train comes racing by. |
Seminary 2 - After waiting an hour and a half, Amtrak finally comes. The "move" that Gregg makes is not one of glee. He wanted an older Amtrak locomotive with the old Amtrak logo. He got a newer locomotive, with the newer logo instead. Still a good video nonetheless. |
Henry - The signals started behind Gregg as he got to the crossing. He jumped out and got this video of a GT train with UP engines. |
Maurer - When Gregg got here, he heard rumbling. He set the camera up quickly but the signals started without him. He got the train though. The bells shut off when the gates fully lower unfortunately. They also sound as the gates rise. |
Five Point 1 - The color light signals next to the crossing were green. A typical CN train comes through. |
Five Point 2 - Filmed from the other side of the tracks. A GT train with A former Wisconsin Central engine comes racing through. Note the 12"x20" and 12"x24" discs on the front signal. |
Clinton - Back at Five Point, A train waiting on another track. It almost beat Gregg to the crossing, but he got here just in time. The Safetran bells shut off when the gates go up. |

Senko LKE: The efforts of two railfans combined together in a nice package, full
of almost everything we know about signals. Lots of old and classical stuff, combined with new and modern stuff. From old-type cantilevers and teardrop
bells, to the very rare to find Safetran e-bell. A must for any signal fan, and for every nostalgic railfan. :)
My favorite: Sherwood Forest Rd. wins the crown again, because of the panorama and the mechanical bells. It's so sad that they finally died and were replaced :(
