Another return to California after almost a year. This set of DVDs mostly focuses on the Banning/Beaumont/Cabazon/Palm Springs, and Perris area.
NOTE: THE ORDER LISTED BELOW ISN'T THE SAME ORDER FOUND ON THE DVD. THE DVD IS LISTED IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER.
THE FOLLOWING VIDEOS WERE RECORDED 3/13-14/2005.
|
22-1 - A train with only 2 locomotives crosses. One of the lights is burned out on the opposite signal. Only 37 seconds long. |
|
Live Oak Canyon - The opposite signal now has 12"x24" L.E.D. lights and WCH electronic bells. Too much traffic resulted in a somewhat poor video, but still not too bad. |
|
Private - A private railroad crossing with two 12"x20" signals with gates. A train comes by and activates the two signals, there's also a blooper in this video. |
|
San Timoteo 1 - I'm on the other side of the crossing than I was in 2003. The only change is "2 Tracks" signs. Other than that, everything works the same. |
|
Veile - A very interesting situation here. A train is blocking the crossing, which keeps the signals going. A 2-locomotive UP train crosses at the very beginning. I get closer to hear the WCH bells closer. |
THE FOLLOWING VIDEOS WERE RECORDED 8/6/2005.
All of these videos on this day was a chase, with the the same train, over and over again.
San Timoteo 2 - A poor video due to light issues, but the signals now have 12"x20" ball L.E.D. lights! A very slow train keeps the crossing activated for about 5 minutes. I missed the very beginning of the train unfortunately. |
California- As requested by gtw4070@gmail.com, I was asked to get a video from the signal with the mechanical bell. I also got a good close-up of it. This is the same train I got at San Timoteo. |
22-2 - I got ahead of the train again, and got the 22nd St. signals in action. The burned out bulb is working again. |
Apache Trail - I just barely got ahead the train here. I wanted to get on the side of the road with the mechanical bell, but people were in my way, so I had to make due with the electronic bell. |
Palm Springs 1- This crossing out in the middle of nowhere made the perfect stop to get ahead of the train again. The WCH electronic bell isn't working right in this video, as you will clearly hear. |
THE FOLLOWING VIDEOS WERE RECORDED 8/18/2005.
I wanted to get another shot of the San Timoteo signals, especially since I didn't hear the General Signals electronic bell ring the first time.
San Timoteo 3- A train is approaching, but going very slowly. The signals start up, and the General Signals bell is dead! You can barely hear the WCH bell on the other side of the crossing! The train takes about 6 minutes to cross! |
Palm Springs 2- I decided to see if the WCH e-bell was fixed at this crossing. It wasn't. The same train from San Timoteo 3 crosses here. |
THE FOLLOWING VIDEOS ARE FROM THE ORANGE EMPIRE RAILROAD MUSEUM RECORDED 3/12/2005.
Alpine - A new mast flasher is now working with the two wigwags now! A train goes by, activating the signal, along with the two wigwags. |
Broadway -With a big help from Paul, the 8" signal, and wigwag from the Broadway 1 crossing is seen in action! Several other situtations are seen too, like the crossing running without bells, and on battery power! A must-see! |
|
Central - Also with the help of Paul, here's the Central Avenue wigwag in action. It times out a few times by design. The crossing was closed to the trolley due to track work. |
Signal Garden - A re-visit to the two wigwags, which aren't working very well. I also got the very old crossing bell in action too! |

11 - The 11th Street signals are seen in action. The mast lights have L.E.D. lights, but the cantilever lights still had incandescent lights at the time. |
