Disc #1

Main Street; (Stoughton, WI) - (Video 1 of 2) It's 2:38 AM and the quiet of a cool spring night is shattered by Union Pacific SD40-2s 2963 and 2997 speeding northbound with empty ballast cars destined for the quarry at Rock Springs. The crossing has 12" x 20" Modern Industries incandescent lights and a WCH mechanical bell.
Forster Drive; (Madison, WI) - A short Wisconsin & Southern Railroad local goes through this crossing with two Griswold gated signals and a WCH mechanical bell.
Main Street; (Arlington, WI) - Canadian Pacific Railroad's Portage-Madison train comes through town under the power of three GP38-2s in Soo Line paint, and stops to drop off some tank cars in the process. This keeps the gateless 8" signals and Safetran mechanical bell activated for almost 15 minutes.
Holum Street; (DeForest, WI) - Darkness has set in when the same train from the previous video rolls slowly through DeForest. The crossing has gateless 8" WCH and WRRS signal lights with a WCH mechanical bell.
Wisconsin Street; (Whitewater, WI) - This crossing has one 8" WRRS signal and one 8" Griswold signal, with a WRRS mini bell on the WRRS signal. Soo Line 1003, a 2-8-2 steam locomotive, makes a special run by the crossing!
E. Johnson Street; (Madison, WI) (Video 1 of 2) - A Wisconsin & Southern light engine move pulls up and activates the four 8" Griswold gated signals at this crossing, but stops short of going across and eventually backs away, deactivating the signals.
Ludington Street; (Columbus, WI) - This crossing was seen on Wisconsin Signals Volume 1. This video is from the opposite side of the tracks from that one. A westbound Canadian Pacific freight train goes through the gated cantilever crossing with 12" x 24" Modern Industries lights with clear L.E.D.s in them, and 12" x 24" Safetran red L.E.D.s on the rear lights attached to the gates. The mechanical bell is from either Griswold or RACO. It's the Fourth of July and the city's parade has just been halted for the train, so there are a lot of people around.
County Highway M; (Madison, WI) - Another short Wisconsin & Southern local crosses here. The crossing has B&B ARMR full-barrier gates (!) with cantilevers, 12" x 24" WCH red L.E.D.s and two WCH electronic bells.
Sherman Avenue; (Madison, WI) - A long, slow Wisconsin & Southern freight goes through this gated cantilever crossing with 12" incandescent lights (mixed backgrounds), and a Safetran mechanical bell. You'll also get to see the train going through the Commercial Avenue crossing from a distance, before it reaches Sherman Avenue.
East Johnson Street; (Madison, WI) (Video 2 of 2) - A Wisconsin & Southern switch job pulls partway across the 4-Griswold gated crossing, then switches tracks and shoves back into the yard. Warning: This video is quite shaky due to an ill-fated attempt to shoot video with one hand and stills with the other, although the worst parts have been edited out. The sun was in a bad spot, too.
Court Street; (Janesville, WI) - It's a warm July evening, and we have the same situation as the previous video. A Wisconsin & Southern train is being put together, and pulls through the crossing, then shoves back. The crossing is gated and has one cantilever and three mast signals with a mixture of clear and red L.E.D.s in the 12" x 20" lights, and two Associated Signal Company electronic bells which are set to low volume and difficult to hear.
Pearl Street; (Janesville, WI) - This is Pearl St. #3 on the website. This crossing was seen from the other side of the tracks on Wisconsin Signals Volume 1. The train from the previous video is still switching and activates the crossing several times. There is one Safetran mechanical bell and one General Signals Type 1 electronic bell here.
Door Creek Road; (McFarland, WI) - (Video 1 of 2) A southbound Wisconsin & Southern freight crosses at this 12" x 20" gateless incandescent crossing with a Modern Industries mechanical bell.
Williams Drive; (Stoughton, WI) (Video 1 of 2) - I wasn't originally planning to focus on the signals much, or include this video on the DVD, but then two things happened. The locomotives from the train in the above video have left their train behind and are going to switch the Stoughton industrial park. First there was a very close call between the train and a not-so-intelligent driver. Secondly, the signals activated again as the locomotives backed up slightly to switch onto the industrial park spur, resulting in more opportunity to film them. However, I was getting attacked by small but very aggressive biting ants and terminated the video. The crossing with 8" WRRS incandescent lights and a WRRS mini bell was seen from the other side of the tracks on Wisconsin Signals Volume 1.
South Street; (Stoughton, WI) - The train from the previous two videos is back together and goes through this crossing with gateless 8" Safetran signals and a Griswold mechanical bell.
Wauona Trail; (Portage, WI) - A Canadian Pacific freight pulled by an SD60 in Soo Line paint goes through this gated crossing with 12" x 24" Safetran ball L.E.D.s. The crossing has no bell, rather unusual for a newer gated crossing setup.
Whitney Way; (Madison, WI) - A Wisconsin & Southern freight train goes through this crossing with B&B ARMR full-barrier gates, 2 General Signals Type 1 electronic bells, and a very odd mixture of 8" incandescent and 8" clear L.E.D. lights.
Baldwin Street; (Madison, WI) - The Wisconsin & Southern train from the previous video crosses here. This crossing has two Griswold gated signals with a RACO mechanical bell.

Disc #2

County Highway AB; (McFarland, WI) - This crossing has gateless 12" x 20" WCH incandescent signals with a WRRS mini bell. A rare six-locomotive Wisconsin & Southern freight train crosses here.
County Highway P; (Randolph, WI) - An eastbound Union Pacific train goes through this gateless 12" x 24" incandescent Safetran crossing. The bell is a Safetran hybrid! Also, the lead locomotive is a rare Chicago & Northwestern "patch"-still in faded C&NW green & yellow with UP logos where the C&NW ones used to be.
Main Street; (Reeseville, WI) - This crossing has gated 12" x 24" incandescent signals with a mechanical bell that quits once the gates go down. That part was not captured on video because the video was late getting started. However, while the westbound Canadian Pacific freight train is crossing, Amtrak's eastbound Empire Builder races through the crossing on the other track!
Blount Street, (Madison, WI) (Video 1 of 2) - Here are some gateless Griswold signals with two Safetran mechanical bells that ring at different speeds. A Union Pacific ballast conveyor train crosses. The lead locomotive is an ex-Chicago & Northwestern engine with a gong bell mounted on the nose that works the same way as a mechanical railroad crossing bell.
Exchange Street; (McFarland, WI) - This crossing has gateless 8" WRRS incandescent signals with a WRRS mini bell. The video was a little late getting started. The same train from the previous video crosses here.
Door Creek Road; (McFarland, WI) (Video 2 of 2) - The same train from the previous two videos is seen here. The video is taken from the other side of the tracks as the first video and shows the low-mounted sidelights which protect driveways leading up to the road.
Main Street; (Stoughton, WI) (Video 2 of 2) - The crossing that opened the DVD is seen in daylight this time, with the same train as the previous 3 videos. Numerous cars go through the activated signals before the train gets there.
Williams Drive; (Stoughton, WI) - (Video 2 of 2) A similar process as the first video of this crossing in this set. Some Wisconsin & Southern locomotives are going through to switch the industrial park, then the crossing activates a second time as the locomotives back into the spur.
Main Street; (Edgerton, WI) - The train from the previous video is made back up and crawls extremely slowly through Edgerton, coming to a complete stop several times. The crossing was blocked for over 10 minutes. The crossing has gateless Safetran cantilevers with 12" x 24" incandescent lights and a Safetran mechanical bell.
Industrial Drive; (Lyndon Station, WI) - Amtrak's eastbound Empire Builder races through this crossing with US&S gated signals with a US&S mechanical bell and US&S 12" x 20" lights that have just had L.E.D.s put in them within the last two months.
State Highway 136 (Broadway Street); (Rock Springs, WI) - The power for a Union Pacific rock train goes through the crossing to couple up to its train. There are two Griswold gated signals here, each with a RACO mechanical bell.
Vine Street; (Baraboo, WI) - The rock train is now made up and goes through this crossing with two classic WRRS Harpes wigwags mounted above their crossbucks, and a RACO mechanical bell. You can hear the WRRS mechanical bell at neighboring Walnut Street near the end of the video.
Lodi Street; (Lodi, WI) - This crossing has gateless 12" x 24" incandescent Safetran signals, with another Safetran hybrid bell. The train from the previous 2 videos crosses here. The person seen in the video is another railfan who happened to be chasing the same train.
Blount Street; (Madison, WI) (Video 2 of 2) - This crossing is now seen from the other side of the tracks, as the train from the previous 3 videos goes through.
John Nolen Drive/Olin Avenue; (Madison, WI) - This is a complicated cantilever/gate/mast flasher crossing with 12" x 24" incandescent lights and mechanical bells that goes through the intersection of 2 roads. This is the final runby of the Union Pacific rock train, just before darkness sets in. A passer-by in a car asks "why film trains"? near the end of the video.

Dickinson Street; (Madison, WI) - Wisconsin & Southern's excursion train goes through this gated crossing with

12" x 24" Safetran incandescent lights and a WRRS mechanical bell.

Diamond Hill Road; (North Freedom, WI) - North Freedom is the location of a branch line that runs off the same line that connects Rock Springs, Baraboo, Lodi, Dane and Madison. The branch is now owned by the Mid-Continent Railway Museum, which operates daily excursion trains on it during the summer. Here the museum's old diesel switcher locomotive brings the last excursion of the day into the station, then uncouples and runs through the crossing again, then backs up and activates the crossing a third time in order to switch to the enginehouse track. The museum crossing has gateless 12" x 24" WCH incandescent lights and a slow ringing WCH mechanical bell.
Bonus Footage #1, Main Street; (Mount Prospect, IL) - An Illinois signal video taken on a weekend trip. An inbound Metra commuter train with its cab car in the lead stops at the Mount Prospect station near this crossing with one cantilever and one mast flasher, L.E.D. lights, a mixture of 20" and 24" backgrounds, sidewalk gates, and a WCH electronic bell.
Bonus Footage #2 - A private signal collection located near the Lodi Street crossing in Lodi. It contains three working WRRS wigwags, a working Griswold Type A signal, and a working antique 8" signal among other signals and signs.
