An overview of the crossbuck crossing. |
Facing North. |
The DOT number. |
A GS type 1 e-bell! |
Note how the "2 Tracks" sign looks in picture 2. It's a whole sign, with the outer parts of the sign blacked out to resemble a real looking 2 tracks sign.
The "R" font on the warning sign isn't Genuine. Some other font is used instead.
Facing East. |
This picture was taken North across from the tracks. |
A CSX train crossing with only a GS type 1 to warn. |
Facing SouthEast. |
Facing South at the only signal with the GS type 1 e-bell. |
Facing West at another train. |
The train crosses... |
|
Another train passes through. |
The remains of what was likely a third track. |
Facing South. The Warning sign font isn't genuine here either. |

This crossing used to be owned by Conrail, then CSX took over. When Conrail owned the crossing, there were only 2 daily trains, with no protection whatsoever. When CSX took over, they added the crossbucks and the GS e-bell, but on the downside, traffic increased to 58 then to 60 daily trains!
On top of that, this IS a public crossing! Gateless signals at the minimum should really be installed here or else there could be a lot more accidents!
