These are very rare to find triangle type 8" signals! Even the gates appear to be round-ish. |
||
Unfortunately, there's plans to widen the road to change the blinking red lights seen in picture 4 to a traffic light. These signals won't last too much longer. |
|
More views of the crossing. The bells appear to be Safetran and WRRS mechanicals. |

Here are some action shots of the crossing taken on March 15, 2006. The signals appear to be in very good shape. Too bad they will be replaced. Andrew had to wait 90 minutes to get these shots, and...

Well, progress is beginning to catch up with the 8" Territorial signals as of May 25, 2007. You can see their replacements (likely 12"x24" although I wasn't told), with no gates as of yet, and two WCH electronic bells. You can see in picture 14 that there's only rear flashers, and another base in front of that.
That means a cantilever is soon coming, just like what happened to the Kratzmeyer crossing in Bakersfield, CA!
In picture 15, you can see some more concrete pads that will be used for widening the road. Picture 16 is the new relay case for the newer signals.
I predict that the signals will be WCH 12"x24" with WCH L.E.D. lights. I still feel that these signals do not need replacing by any means. |

Well, the new signals are going up. See how many mistakes UP has made...
1) One gate seen in picture 18 has 4" incandescent gate lights, while the other gate has Aurora gate lights. 2) The crossbuck is on the mast instead of the cantilever in picture 19. 3) The "DO NOT STOP ON TRACKS" sign is where the crossbuck should be. 4) The rear lights are on the gate and not on the mast of the cantilever. |

The lights are L.E.D. dotted, but have tinted lights. The L.E.D. manufacturer isn't known at this time.
It's unknown what types of lights all 7 pairs are, although I'm leaning more towards WCH.
This signal has slightly better qualities. The lights are WCH L.E.D. lights, once again different than the cantilever. |
The traffic light is functional, but is wasting electricity by keeping the "NO RIGHT TURN" sign lit 24/7. |
Side lights seen above the main mast lights on the cantilever. |
|
The bracket name seen in picture 24 is from GE.
This is an FRA violation, with the crossbuck behind the main cantilever mast, and hidden. |
An overview of the crossing. The road is of course closed while the "new" signals go in. |
My previous prediction on 12"x24" L.E.D. lights was correct unfortunately.
Pictures 17-26 were taken on July 19, 2007.
The crossing is finished, and opened. |
The eastbound sidewalk has this marking but the westbound does not. |
The new relay case. The light on the side is a white L.E.D. |
You can see that the crossbuck and "DO NOT STOP ON TRACKS" signs are now moved, and are in much better places. Glad to see that Union Pacific made these changes.
The westbound signal. |
One of the cantilever side gate lights. Both gates now have Aurora L.E.D. gate lights. |
Pictures 27-31 were taken on September 13, 2007.
