A big update again today. Added 38 new photos, 5 new crossings to California, and 32 new photos, 8 new crossings to Texas. Also, Arizona Signals 2003 is now released, but it's the last one made for SVCD. When I get DVD access, I'll relaunch them as DVD-R or DVD+R discs as soon as I can. Also, prices have dropped 22-50%. Check it out. |
Nov. 15, 2003 8:05 PM |
Big update today. I added 3 new photos to some defunct signals taken down in California. I also changed the name of FAMILIAR SIGNALS to L.A. Harbor Area. I also added 25 new Texas photos. These are very good pictures and worth a heavy look. Also, David's Texas photos are cancelled due to not enough time to take them. And David's Ohio photos are delayed due to snowy weather. |
Nov. 11, 2003 8:55 PM |
Added 9 new pictures to Texas. |
Nov. 9, 2003 |
Added a tease to the soon to be new Ohio section. There will also be newer California material to come as well. I'll explain in a later update. |
Nov. 5, 2003 |
Added 24 pictures of new signal pictures in California. I'm cancelling Tucson indefinately due to ongoing problems here and with all the bad talk I've heard from a few people who live over there. I've also changed Metrolink trains to Metro Blue Line trains because I've been told Metrolink is incorrect. |
Oct. 30, 2003 6:15 PM |
Added 12 pictures of a pedestrian signals I have in my posession for over a decade. I also updated California due to two crossings that are defunct. |
Oct. 23, 2003 3:35 PM |
Added two new links to the Links page concerning railroad videos. I also got an email from the submitter of the Oregon pictures. He's going to send some more pictures in about a month. Look for more Oregon pics soon. |
Oct. 19, 2003 12:50 PM |
Got 7 new pictures of a new location in California. Oakland, CA is now up for viewing. Tucson may be cancelled if things don't go right. Also the new state isn't looking promising either. |
Oct. 13, 2003 2:10 PM |
Only text updates today. One crossing in Flagstaff is now gone for good. Tucson has been pushed back again due to family emergencies, and I also set better dates for Ohio and Texas. A new state may come soon, so check back in a week or two. I also updated the Future page to change Tucson and a few other details. |
Oct. 6, 2003 9:45 PM |
Added 6 new pictures to Seligman, and Ash Fork, AZ. I cancelled the S.O.S. page indefinately because the railroads are going to do what they want and not listen to us. I also added a new tip to the How To Photograph Railroad Signals. This update puts me at 1,500 photos even. |
Sep. 26, 2003 8:15 PM |
Added 4 new pictures to Peoria, AZ located at the US 60 part of Arizona. I also updated the Future page to include some newer material coming soon. |
Sep. 23, 2003 9:30 PM |
Added 10 new pictures to the US 60 portion of Arizona. Lots more crossings to come real soon. |
Sep. 12, 2003 11:05 PM |
Added 4 new donated pictures to the California section. This crossing is near Henry Ford 1. Since I haven't heard back from the person who was supposed to send me pictures from Missouri, I've cancelled the tease, figuring it isn't going to happen. |
Sep. 10, 2003 10:45 PM |
Added more stuff to the Like/Dislike part of the Who Am I section. Monsoon mode ends today after about half an inch of rain on the 9th. The weather is beginning to change on the first day of no monsoons. |
Sep. 9, 2003 9:05 AM |
Updated the 2003 page to include my one-day trip to California. I also added a new page of my likes and dislikes on popular things. I'll add to it when I remember more things. |
Sept. 4, 2003 11:50 PM |
In an unexpected turn of events, I took off for California for less than one day. I'll explain more in detail of the trip in a future 2003 update. In the end, I've seen lots of different things, plus I've added 2 new pictures. |
Sept. 2, 2003 2:55 PM |
Added lots of 8" signals to the Texas section. My total is now up to 1,474. I also added 3 new links. These are very good links, so check them out when possible. I now have 42 links total. I've also diabled the 2ND UPDATE logo, because I don't think I'll use it anyway. Its rare to me to update 2 times or more in one day. Also, I've been getting email back that I haven't sent. Some jerk is using my email account to send bogus emails containing viruses. This person is using Microsoft Outlook 6 to send these. Because you can put ANY email address, I'd like to boycott Microsoft for this. REPEAT: THE BOGUS EMAILS THAT ARE IN MY NAME ARE NOT FROM ME. Other people are having problems like this too. |
Aug. 24, 2003 10:55 PM |
Added 11 new Texas pictures. I've discontinued the Master List page because it was too hard to keep up with. I also added 2 new links. That brings my total links up to 39 while my total pictures is at 1,453. |
Aug. 15, 2003 11:20 PM |
Added 21 new Oregon pictures. This may be the end of Oregon for a while. The person who's sending me the photos will be away for a few months. Total: 1,442. |
Aug. 15, 2003 3:00 PM |
After a severe thunderstorm watch along with 2 tornadoes occuring around the state last night, I finally got 15 new Oregon pictures up. Total: 1,421. |
Aug. 12, 2003 1:40 PM |
Added 9 good pictures to the newly created Oregon section. This brings my total now to 1,406. |
Aug. 10, 2003 6:56 PM |
Something weird is going on. From almost a dead silence for 4 years, the website is taking off like a rocket bound for the moon! I've got another request to host some more signals. With Missouri coming up, I'll have 1/5 of the U.S. on my site. Because there are so many changes, I've dropped the exit numbers for a while, perhaps permanently? I also reinstalled SOS back to the site again. With the way things are going, I may be over 2,000 photos by the time 2003 ends. |
Aug. 9, 2003 10:22 PM |
Added 7 new texas pictures. Because the Texas section is going to grow so much, I'm thinking of dropping the Master List. If any of you that page for naviagation. Please let me know, so I don't drop it. There's a new tease for Oregon Signals coming next week. I dropped the S.O.S section to make room. I'm 3 photos shy of 1,400. |
Aug. 6, 2003 5:55 PM |
More stuff incoming every day. I'm getting more contributions from more locations. Even Canada! I made a new Canada section complete with 4 new pictures. I also added 6 HO scale signals to my scale signals section. And finally, I added 4 new Texas photos. That brings my new total to 1,390 photos. |
Aug. 5, 2003 8:49 PM |
32 new photos are online from my California trip. I also got one crossing in Arizona as well. Overall: 1,376 photos. |
Aug. 4, 2003 11:20 PM |
Added 11 new photos of Texas. Tomorrow's scheduled update will be some California and Arizona pictures I took in July of 2003. That brings my new total to 1,344. |
Aug. 3, 2003 10:07 PM |
Updated the Texas section (exit 7) with 17 new pictures. I do have more pictures to upload, but I'm going to wait until tomorrow, because on an earlier update, I almost lost track of new pictures, and it took me a little extra time to get the correct number up. So I'm doing this to keep up with myself. Total pictures: 1,333. In regards to Java 2, version 1.4.0_03 froze on me yesterday, but I'm wondering if Java is the problem, because earlier today, AOL or the Internet wasn't loaded, and it froze. I don't think I will ever understand Windows completely. |
Aug. 2, 2003 2:00 PM |
It looks like I'm going to stick with AOL after all. AOL wasn't the problem with my freezes. The fault was in Sun's Java 2 program. Version 1.4.1 has had lots of bugs and AOL even generated a report to send in regarding bugs. I'm now using version 1.4.0.03, and so far it works great. In other updates, I've updated the Future page to change a few things, updated the video page to a new look due to poor video sales. Maybe this new look will help things. And finally I updated my 2003 page in the "Who am I" section. Texas and California pictures will still come soon, but with the weather being very unpredictible over here, it may take a while, maybe up to a week. |
July 29, 2003 12:05 PM |
I'm in the process of switching internet providers because AOL 8.0 keeps freezing my computer everytime I'm online. So for right now, I have no email at this time. Look for a new email address on August 1. Look for more Texas pictures when I get a new email. |
July 26, 2003 8:16 PM |
Added 26 new Texas pictures. This brings my total to 1,316. |
July 22, 2003 9:45 PM |
Things are pretty quiet here in California for now. I'm planning on Carson on Thursday, July 24, 2003. I'm not going to post pictures while I'm in California, so picture updates will come in early August. |
July 18, 2003 3:17 PM |
California is still a GO on Friday. I will have a computer with me so I will be able to update from California with no problems. In addition, who ever goes to the Orange Empire Railroad Museum will be able to purchase my train CDs for $20! I will only bring 7 sets with me so it's first come first serve. The next scheduled update will be 11 more Texas signals to bring my total over 1,300 pictures. |
July 16, 2003 12:05 AM |
11 new Texas photos are posted. 1,290 photos are online. California still isn't known at this time, but the odds look very good. I'll post the news when it becomes available. |
July 15, 2003 12:13 AM |
13 new pictures are added to the Henry Ford 1 crossing in California. 4 of the 13 are from the 1977 CHiPs episode. My new overall total is 1,279. |
July 14, 2003 12:00 AM |
Nine of the old North Texas signals are posted. This brings my new total to 1,266. |
July 13, 2003 1:10 PM |
Monsoon mode is effective immediately until mid-September. For those of you who don't know about monsoons, they are thunderstorms that erupt almost every day for 3 months at around 12-1 PM PST. Some do get quite severe, and a few tornadoes sometimes come from those storms. I like this time period because it gives us most of our rain for the whole year. Because of these storms, some updates will be limited at times. In other news: Friday's official word on California has been postponed until Tuesday. This last test on my grandfather should be the final word on whether I go 4 or 10 days to California. I also added a new tease of texas signals to come from an "old friend". Check out the Texas section to figure out what I mean. |
July 9, 2003 12:04 PM |
Added two new teases for new states coming in the future. California is still in jeopardy. Check back on Friday for the official word if I'm going or not. |
July 5, 2003 1:50 PM |
Changed the left column on the homepage to include Exit numbers. California updates may be in jeopardy! Check back for more information if it will be cancelled. |
July 1, 2003 8:14 AM |
Lots of updates today. First the bad news: The Microsoft Train simulator game is too hard for me to get pictures of, not only that the game lost part of its track plan! So I'm putting the train sim pictures on permanent hiatus. I also dropped the Waiting section. Nothing is going to come in over here, so I've quit looking. Third, Tucson is going to wait longer. It's been postponed until August due to personal conflicts. My topcities website hasn't come back yet, so my website will now be permanently hosted at http://www.hostultra.com/~rxrsignals (now defunct) from now on. Now the good news: I'm going to California again from July 18-28. I won't have a computer with me, so all email will have to wait until July 28th until I return. Newer Carson updates are planned, but I don't know which date yet. On July 19, 20, 26, and 27 I'm going to be at the Orange Empire Railroad Museum from opening until closing (9 AM to 5 PM). Anyone that wants to meet me will have 4 chances. I'm also bringing my video CDs with me. Check the Video section for more details. I also taped the CHiPs episode on June 25 and will post them in a day or 2. The future page and the FAQ page is also updated to reflect the website's history. |
June 22, 2003 9:48 PM |
Posted new events for the Future list. Five updates include another train trip to California, train sim pictures, another trip to Flagstaff, pictures on US 60 to Phoenix, and a Tucson section coming soon. Go to the Future page for more details. |
June 19, 2003 10:20 PM |
After Topcities going down on me more than 10 days ago, everything's been restored to my new server at hostultra.com. Arizona signals and the master list are fully restored. I'll keep the temporary sign on until July 1st. If topcities hasn't come back by then, then I'll stay at hostultra.com permanently. For those of you who don't know, hostultra has unlimited bandwidth and unlimited (60 GB) of disk space, so go explore to your heart's content. I'm also pushing the Train simulator signal pictures back a little due to spending so much time restoring over 700 pictures. |
June 13, 2003 9:00 PM |
The Massachusetts section is restored. Arizona is due up next, but will take quite a while to restore. Topcities is still screwing up, and topcities still hasn't emailed me yet on what their problem is. My temp job is still going for at least 1 more day on Monday. I don't know how much longer, but we'll see. |
June 11, 2003 9:53 PM |
Video section back up. Massachusetts is due up next for reinstallation. |
June 10, 2003 8:00 PM |
iI don't know what's wrong with Topcities. I think it's been hacked. I've read forums and people are talking about the same problems as me. The message I'm getting is bandwidth errors. This also happened to a popular game show website. When they got hacked, I kept on getting bandwidth errors too. The weird thing is that topcities isn't fessing up to their error, and they haven't returned my email. I think my secondary may become my primary soon if topcities ever recovers. |
June 6, 2003 11:30 PM |
Scrapped the oval shapes for better ones. I'm going to stick with these. I do plan to upgrade every page, but that will take a long time. I'll update some at random, and they won't be updated on the main page, so keep watching. |
June 5, 2003 7:55 PM |
Changed the picture count and the date updates to a different look. Let me know if this is a good look, or if you like the boxes better. |
May 29, 2003 9:20 PM |
Old signals are coming soon to the site. A long time ago, when the website was first born, I talked about 3 crossings on Henry Ford Ave. in California being shown on a 1977 episode of CHiPs. That episode will be shown on June 25, 2003 at 3:20 AM EST, 12:20 AM PST on TBS Superstation. I'll tape that episode, and put the older looks on the site a few days later. |
May 27, 2003 8:30 PM |
From the Federal Railroad Administrations data, accident reports have been added to quite a number of crossings in California and Arizona. Those crossings have stars next to their dates. Those stars will disappear on 6/1/2003. Some more will be added as time goes on. Coming soon will be Microsoft's Train Simulator grade crossing photos. You'll want to stay tuned for that one coming soon. I also added the FRA's website to my Links page. The Cottage Ave. crossing in Flagstaff IMO was abandoned, because of it's quality. However I found out it isn't. I've updated that page. |
May 21, 2003 2:25 PM |
After a long 5 weeks of below normal temperatures, and above average winds I finally got my chance at more trains. I went on May 11 and got 8 trains at 6 crossings, although there were many more. I've posted updates to only 2 of those crossings. The Grand Canyon and Steves Blvd have had dramatic changes. The other 4 crossings will be available on SVCD later on during the year. In total 25 new pictures bringing my total count to 1257. |
May 6, 2003 11:45 AM |
I've been wanting to make a train update for the past 3 weeks, but heavy winds, in excess of 15+ MPH plus wind advisories and heavy wind warnings keeps postponing my trips. When the winds become light (<5 MPH) then expect a update from Flagstaff and Williams and all points in between including an abandoned crossing in Flagstaff. Updated the Future, waiting, scale and how to Photograph signals. |
April 26, 2003 3:45 PM |
Updated the "MY PROFILE" section today to catch up on things that have happened in 2003 as well as a slight change to the 2002 page. My HO layout may not be up in the amount of time I expected to, check the Scale page for more information. |
April 1, 2003 5:08 PM |
The California Signals 2003 (Formerly Return to California) Super Video CD is now available. My HO train layout may be going back up soon. Stay tuned. |
Mar. 15, 2003 8:00 AM |
The California section is back up with 282 new pictures and 49 new crossings. This brings my new total to 1232 pictures! It will be a long time before I update again. After looking for trains non-stop for 6 days and taking 2 weeks to upload all of this. I'm burned out for now. The Future page is updated too with only one topic posted. |
Mar. 7, 2003 9:50 AM |
Added 30 new pictures to Arizona including 6 new crossings on U.S. 60. Congress, AZ also has 5 new pictures as well. Because I have so much California data, I'll relaunch California on March 15th. These 30 new pictures bring my total count to 952. |
Mar. 2, 2003 3:46 PM |
I'm back from my California trip. I found a few interesting signals with all the features: L.E.D's, gates, 12", 10" and even a few 8" signals. I even found one wigwag that's still in service! Over 70 crossings will be added to the California section in at most time of 7 days. I shot a whole bunch of video that will require a lot of time. I'm also going to work on an extra enhancement as well. Keep watching. I guarantee all pictures up by March 15th. |
Feb. 21, 2003 10:38 AM |
I'm going to be out of the state starting on February 24. I'm going to California!!! Look for at least 200 pictures up to possibly over 400! I'll be gone for a week. When I get back, I'll have a lot of work to do uploading all of them onto the website. Also, the Return To California Super Video CD will also be available in early March. I'll be where there won't be any computers, so I can't check email or take any Super Video CD orders while I'm gone. |
Feb. 18, 2003 2:40 PM |
I went out for trains today, and found a crossing that I remembered over 10 years ago. It had been upgraded from crossbucks to 12" signals. These new 6 pictures bring my total to 922. |
Feb. 15, 2003 2:20 PM |
Made some corrections and updates to the Maryland and Norfolk sections in Massachusetts. |
Feb. 14, 2003 3:20 PM |
10,000 hits!!! |
Feb. 13, 2003 6:49 PM |
Added 16 new pictures to the Massachusetts section. The grand total is now up to 916. I was going to update at 9 AM MST, but our phone provider, Qwest, cut our phone line, killing it for 9 hours! Sorry for the delay. |
Feb. 5, 2003 3:20 PM |
Changed the Question/Need To know section to a waiting section. I also added one link for a total of 36 links. |
Feb. 4, 2003 9:20 AM |
California may be back on track this Spring or Summer. I plan to get in addition to Carson and Compton, Blythe, and especially Indio, CA. Keep your fingers crossed that it will happen. Also moved the Henry Ford pictures out of the Misc. Section in California to it's own section. Today, I got in some more questions related to my FAQ page. Those are added to the page. |
Feb. 1, 2003 9:04 AM |
I took a test to become an A+ Certified computer tech, but after failing the test, I've come to a decision that I'm going the wrong way in life. Instead, I'd like to "work on the railroad" by becoming a signal maintainer for BNSF or Union Pacific. If anybody who works on signals from BNSF, UP, CSX, or any other railroad reads this, please see the "Question Link" on the homepage, please and give me an email. I also created a "FAQ" section for some railroad questions that seem pretty popular. If you have any questions, please email me but keep them railroad related. |
Jan. 26, 2003 10:09 AM |
Gave the right index page a slight face lift. Updated the Future List, and added the progress of Arizona Signals 2003 Video CD. If I get another 10 trains on my next trip, it will be out by Spring or Summer 2003! |
Jan. 20, 2003 4:07 PM |
900 Pictures strong today. I also made a lot of errors in yesterday's update, they are all fixed. |
Jan. 19, 2003 9:00 AM |
33 new pictures added for the start of the 2003 train season. My total is now up to 896. I also updated the Links page with one new link. |
Jan. 16, 2003 2:20 PM |
My Flagstaff trip is back in action. Look for new material to arise by Saturday at the latest. |
Jan. 14, 2003 6:11 AM |
Due to an unexpected emergency over here, my trip to Flagstaff planned for today has been postponed to a unforseen date. |
Jan. 12, 2003 12:00 PM |
Moved the Who Am I section to the new server. |
Jan. 11, 2003 10:18 PM |
A lot of updates. First, my new state chances are at 0% probabilities. I won't be going after all. Second, The Flagstaff updates are going to have to wait a few days. Some complications at the home have come up, and I may go up on Monday or Tuesday. It will be soon though. Last, I've gone back to an old root. I've signed up with a new server to host my material. The site is at http://www.hostultra.com; they offer unlimited space with unlimited bandwidth. I moved the Future, Serious, How to Photograph Signals, Australia, Scale signals, Florida, New Hampshire, Nevada, SOS, and Links page to that server to relieve the bandwidth problems from topcities.com. The topcities address will still exist, but if more bandwidth problems come up, I'll move more sections over. Probably Massachusetts or the Who Am I sections will move over next, but only if I need to do it. |
Jan. 1, 2003 11:50 AM |
Second update of the day. Lots of problems are occuring due to problems with communications from the possible new state I may travel to. I've put up a probability chance page that shows the status of the likelyhood that I'm going there. Keep watching, because the page will be updated without warning. Check the date and time (24HR time) on the left side of the homepage for the latest updates. |
Jan. 1, 2003 8:20 AM |
I started out the new year fixing the Links page. I accidentally posted a link twice, and I also combined the Non-railroad Links and the original Links page into one. There are 2 new links added as well. I also updated the "Future" page to include several new locations possible in the first quarter of 2003. A few new sections are also planned for the Flagstaff area as well in the first quarter. Lots of new material to come in 2003, keep watching. |
