Pictures 32-48 were taken on June 21, 2010 by TrainmanKight.
Note: These pictures were back when the bells would sound from startup to when the gates fully lowered, and when the gates raised to deactivation.
Since October or November 2008 UP changed the way the bells sounded, and now sound from startup to shutdown.
Pictures 49-70 were taken sometime in 2005 (exact date is unknown) before the cameras came in. Pictures 71-79 were taken on April 18, 2009. Picture 80 was taken on June 16, 2009. |

Note 1: This is the last working Safetran M-Bell On the UP Jeff City Sub in the St. Louis Area. There are only 2 other known Safetran M-Bells left, although the majority of them click, or barely work at all.
UPDATE 8/13/10: This is now only 1 of 2 Safetran Mechanical bells left in St. Louis on this sub, and the other one on Taylor Ave. in Kirkwood, MO was clicking on the last visit.
Note 2: This road has a very steep hill right on the North side of the crossing. Just recently the city added a side walk, and the railroad added a median and the cameras.
Note 3: Due to the 14 accidents that have happened here, a tight curve in the tracks, and a steep hill on the road some trains still blow the horn here, even though the town prohibits horns.
UPDATE: Since the railroad cameras have gone in trains have not been blowing the horn for this crossing.
Note 4: This crossing is in the heart of ol' downtown Webster Groves.
Note 5: Railcrossing cameras: These cameras are the first in the state to be placed at rail crossings and will probably be the last, Missouri senates have voted a ban on photo enforcement state wide. This includes red light and speed cameras. Whether it will go through or not is unknown at this time.
These cameras are made by American Traffic Solutions, Inc. (ATS). The cameras will take 2 high resolution images one before the driver crosses the white line and one with the driver on the tracks, and will also take a short 10-13 second video. TrainmanKight is very intrigued by these cameras and have done a lot of studying on them and found a ton of information and even some videos of violations.
