One support is a bit broken. It's been this way since 2003. |
This crossing is in a quiet zone. Trains don't sound their horns here.
The bells at the crossing used to only sound from activation to when the gates fully lower, and when the gates rise to deactivation. Now, they ring from startup to shutdown...well, at least one of them does.
Up until 2003, both signals had Safetran mechanical bells. Back when the bells used to silence, the Safetran bell would work fine when the gates were lowering. When the gates were rising, the bell tried to work, but kept dying.
Now that the bells work full time, the Safetran bell rings very well from activation to when the gates begin to rise. The bell tries to ring, but fails to every time. You hear it try to ring right when the gates rise, and again about 1 second before the signals turn off.
Pictures 1-14 were taken on November 21, 2008.

On December 2, 2009, a return visit doesn't show any changes visibily, however due to the bells now ringing from startup to shutdown, the Safetran mechanical bell is now severely clicking only, with barely any ringing at all. |

The signals activated for an Amtrak train, that was actually 1 minute ahead of schedule! TrainmanKight says that some of the pictures were blurry due to a camera malfunction, and a different camera will be used. |

On June 4, 2010, we find the gate has been replaced, and is installed incorrectly. The Safetran bell lives on for a while longer... |

On October 6, 2010, TrainmanKight revisits the crossing to a slight change. All 12"x20" frames now have UP LEDs inside of them. |

| Note how the bracket in picture 43 is falling apart. I was told it's been this way since 2003. | |||
UPDATE: Sometime in mid-October, 2010 the Safetran bell was replaced with a WCH electronic bell.
