The Cooper crossing is a strange one. There's one cantilever, and one mast signal, and 7 pairs all together. Both bells are General signals Type 2 electronic bells, and both signals are Safetrans. These were installed in 2002, when there used to be three signals in the past instead of two that are here Today.

The "Airline Dr." name shown in picture 4 is wrong, and should say "Cooper St."

More signal views, including traffic lights that stop traffic before they get to the crossing. Note the right turn signal, and green arrow in picture 5.

You can see the Michigan Ave. signals in picture 10. Pictures 11 and 12 show Michigan's oldest train station in the state, and is also Amtrak's oldest station as well. It was constructed in 1872. For much older pictures back from the early 1900s, click here.

This is Michigan Ave. There are five pairs of 12"x24" lights, but what's weird is that there are two Safetran Hybrid bells at this crossing. I can see one huge mistake that NS forgot to fix. See if you can find it in this set of 4 pictures.

Picture 19 shows the big mistake. No 24" background, or visor!!!

Picture 22 shows an eastern view of the crossing, where you can see the 133 year old Amtrak building still in service.

I checked out both crossings on Google Street View, and the missing background and visor seen on picture 19 has been fixed on Michigan Ave.

Note: The FRA says that the Michigan Ave. (545285V) went defunct in 2010, can this be verified?
