These used to be crossing signals. I was told that they were 8" lights. They were in bad shape that birds and even BEES nested inside the lenses! The lights even were barely hanging by a few wires before they came down. The bell pictured is a WRRS mini-bell! It's the last bell left on this line. Before the lights were taken down, they were turned to face each other.

According to the FRA, there used to be four 8" signals before they were taken out of service.

These pictures were submitted in 2003.

Note: The FRA says the MBTA uses these tracks along with the Bay Colony Railroad.

The MBTA does not travel on these tracks. If the MBTA did, there would be gated signals at these crossings.

The FRA did get one thing right on their report. They still acknowledge the WRRS mini-bell, even though it doesn't work.
