This one-way setup is quite strange. There is only one bell among these three signals, and it's on the gated signal. It's a WCH mechanical bell. I wasn't told how it rings (the whole session, or just when the gates go down). The gated signal and the signal seen front in picture 3 are both 12"x24" lights. The signal in the background is one of the few 8" GRS plastic lights left around Anderson.

About 10 years ago, all three signals used to have the 8" GRS lights. Two were replaced about 2 years ago, due to too much vandalism, and also because they couldn't be seen well (kind of like the 3M traffic lights) as told by a CSX worker. The third one survived because it isn't that important to replace the lights for traffic going the wrong way, or for pedestrians that might happen to walk the "wrong way".

Picture 5 shows the rear of the mast 12"x24" signal. Picture 6 is a close-up of the 8" GRS lights. Picture 7 looks down the tracks. That weird looking thing to the left of the tracks is a heater for the switch so that it doesn't freeze in the winter weather. It was only put in 2 years ago, before that, a CSX employer had to come out here and put down a lit oil lamp right near the switch and leave it there. That method unfortunately resulted in mega phone calls to the fire department. Picture 8 shows three backup batteries next to the relay case in case of a power outage.

Action shots. Take a look at picture 11. The gate doesn't fully cross the whole road. I think the other 12"x24" signal should have a gate to protect the left lane.

Picture 13 shows the CSX train crossing Central Avenue, another crossing that will be added later on. Pictures 14-16 show the GRS lights in action. They seem to be bright to me, other than what the CSX worker said, but then again this was taken after a rain shower.

More views. The 8" GRS looks not as bright as the 12"x24" behind it. Maybe there is some credibility to what the CSX worker said.
