An overview of the crossing. Two Western-Cullen Hayes (WCH) signals. |
The first signal's overview and it's WCH e-bell is mounted on top. |
Picture 4 shows the WCH base. Pictures 5, 6, and 7 show the WCH gate guard, mechanism, and parts put into this signal. |
With WCH brackets, 12"x24" frames, and 2nd Generation LEDs, this signal is well equipped for visual warning. |
The second signal overview. The signal has a WCH base and an additional set of lights angled to warn the traffic turning from the intersection. |
This signal also has a WCH gate mechanism, gate guard, and parts. I got close ups of the gate guard for observation purposes. |

WCH brackets, 2nd Generation LEDs, 12"x24" light housings, and another WCH e-bell. Note the picture showing the bell is from the first signal. I put it here while I discuss lights, for the signals also have Alstom-Aurora LED gate lights, visible in Picture 17. |
Upon it's own gravel island, the relay cabinet made by PTMW Inc. displays the DOT information with an oddly faded mile post on both sides. Pictures 19 and 20 are on same side. |
Picture 22 looks Eastbound, Picture 23 shows the rugged old wood surface, and Picture 24 looks Westbound. |
The signal has an advanced warning sign for trucks and long vehicles about the limited space over the crossing. Then my eye caught a pole with a white card. Turns out to be the power supply with the original Illinois Central Gulf DOT information and a Union Pacific lock on the Square D box. |
