Due to there being no rear lights on the cantilever masts, this is my most unfavorite crossing in the city.
Note: The crossing became a quiet zone on March 1, 2010, and now has working wayside horns.

Here are clips from May 14, 1999 at this crossing. If you did not understand what I meant above, then maybe the pictures will explain it a little better. The picture on the right has the signal on the left only having you look at 2 lights on the cantilever. While the signal to the right has 4 lights plus the cantilever to look at. Why was this done? |

Here is a makeover of the signal on October 30, 1999 when the bells were replaced with the newer electronic bells. However the picture on the right shows a light turned the wrong way making you see only one light. Who ever did it, Naughty, Naughty. In addition to being here, I recieved a very rude remark from here. If this keeps up, I may not be returning here. The remark was: "Do not pee in public". This is very disturbing to me as it is a great hobby of mine, and it's better than doing drugs, etc. |

Close ups. Someone did their good deed and turned the light back the way it should be. |

More Close ups. The picture on the right also has some wear and tear on the 20" backgrounds as well. |

These camcorder screenshots were taken May 11, 2003. This crossing now has GS L.E.Ds. IMO, I think this was definately needed. The incandesents weren't bright enough.
If you look at Picture #17, you notice the left light on the cantilever isn't as bright as the one on the mast. It isn't a defect with the light, it's the way they're installed. The whole light is pointed further downward than the others are. The light gets brighter as you get closer to the signal. I've also noticed this with traffic lights here, with the green L.E.Ds not being very bright until you get to the intersection. |

Nearly 7 years later on May 17, 2010, the cantilever signals still seem the same, however by each signal, there is a new wayside horn system. Picture 23 shows a painted area near the cantilever signal saying "LOOK BOTH WAYS". |
|||
You can see a "NO TRAIN HORN" sign, but no circle warning sign! |
The signals activate, and a train goes by. |

Two minutes later, the gates rise. |
Here's a closeup of the relay case. |
Note: In picture 30, the door has something weird on it. You can barely make out another street name, milepost, and DOT number underneath the emergency phone number. It is the defunct Palmaire Ave. crossing in Glendale, AZ! Somehow either the door, or the case has been recycled!
Pictures 21-30 were taken by IllinoisTrains.
