Today's crossing signals are supposed to go off at least 20 seconds before a train enters a crossing. For the most part, most crossings do this, but there are a few that are WAY under 20 seconds, especially the former PCH crossing in Wilmington, CA. The PCH engineers don't even allow enough time for the gates to fully lower.
