Ball L.E.D.'s were first made by Dialight for Traffic lights in the early 2000's, however this kind of L.E.D. did not show up on crossing's until around 2003 or 2004.

Safetran has an agreement with Dialight to resell this type of L.E.D. through their website. This kind of L.E.D. light is available in 12". They do sell 8" lights for traffic lights and wayside signals. It's unknown if any kind of 8" light will work as a crossing signal light.

There are two types of Ball L.E.D. models out in the market Today: the 433 and 443 series. The only difference between the two models is that the 433 comes with side light indicators, and the 443 does not.

Safetran sells the ball L.E.D. as the model FLX-4000. It's the same light as the 433 series. It contains side light indicators.

These kinds of L.E.Ds can work on A/C or D/C power between 5-16 volts, and will operate in temperatures from -40°C to +70°C (-40°F to +158°F).

Four different models are available for this LED:
